After disembarking from the Edward Snowman, Future Rufus says that he had to leave "old Jeremiah" behind, and that it was Jeremiah's fault. Presumably, Jeremiah left to get Rufus a slushie, but when Fewlocks attacked, Rufus was forced to leave without him because Jeremiah was too slow.
